The Adventures of Karen

Prologue

Once there was a popper named Karen. She had three friends: Carmel, Oscar, and Buttercup. Every night while their owners were asleep, they would come to life and meet at their owners' school. They would come to life for exactly 10 hours. No one knew of their nighttime prowls. This story is about how their adventures went crazy one night...

                   THE ADVENTURES OF KAREN

 Karen's owners were all asleep. “Time to wake up. Time to meet Carmel, Oscar, and Buttercup at the school!” She sneaked quietly to the door. It was locked, so she reached into her ammo bag and pulled out a key. She fitted it into the lock,opened the door, and ran off into the night. Since she lived on the same street as the school, she didn’t have far to walk.

            Meanwhile, Karen’s owner sat up in bed and turned on the light. She had heard the door creak open. She felt around for Karen. Karen wasn’t there. Eyes drooping, she thought,  ”Karen probably rolled off the bed,” and fell asleep.

            Karen reached the school and called out,"Carmel, Oscar, Buttercup! Are you here?"

            "Yes, but we think someone is sneaking around here."replied Carmel.

            A man emerged from the shadows. Karen, Carmel, and Buttercup jumped into the bushes to hide. The mysterious man to classroom D4. He broke the window and disappeared from sight inside.

              "That's our owners' classroom! We should stop him! He might steal the iPads! He might......" said Buttercup.

               While Buttercup rattled on about what the thief might do, Karen was thinking of a way to slow him down. She spotted a rope and ran to grab it before he came back.  

                 The man came out, pushing a cart full of iPads. Karen lassoed the rope to one side of the classroom, then held onto the other end, creating a trip-wire. BAM!!! He tripped over the wire and was knocked out. Oscar jumped on top of him to reach the alarm.

                  RING! RING! RING! The alarm blared with velocity of a bomb. A minute later, an another alarm went off! "Its a police siren!"said Karen.

                  Three black and white police cars were speeding toward the school. The police jumped out as Karen and her friends' ten hours were up. They turned back into ordinary penguin, cat, dog, and cow poppers. The police ran over to the criminal, glanced at the iPads, and shook their heads. The criminal opened his eyes just in time for the police to say,"You're under arrest!"

                  Karen and her friends felt good inside. They had caught a criminal and saved some iPads. What more could a popper want?
