Ella the Elephant

Ella The Elephant
by L.H., Third Grade

Once upon a time there was an Elephant named Ella. Ella was the best soccer player on her whole team. They would win every soccer game because Ella would scare everybody off the soccer field and would score goals until the whole game was over.  But one day when she was going right down the soccer field to the other teams goal suddenly she tripped right over the soccer ball and onto her right leg.

Her coach ran over to her to see if she was okay, but she wasn’t. They went to the doctor and the doctor told Ella that she had broken her right leg, which was her shooting leg. So, they told her that she could not play soccer for six more weeks. So, at the next game she limped over to her team and told them that she could not play in the game but she would be cheering them on as hard as she could.

As the game started and in the first play the other team scored a goal. So it was off to a bad start, but they didn’t give up. The score stayed like that until the last quarter of the game. With twenty seconds to go the second best player on the team, named Lucy, got the ball from the other team and in a matter of seconds she had ran down the field and scored a goal. The crowd went wild, but the game wasn’t over yet.

There was still ten seconds to go and in the next play the other team was so competitive that they hit Lucy in the arm. Luckily she wasn’t hurt, but it was a penalty Kick into the goal for Ella’s team. Lucy took the shot and it hit the goalie’s hand and into the goal right as the as the referee blew the whistle to say the game was over.

Ella’s team had won. Ella went over to her team and told them that she knew that they could do it. They had celebrated at Ella’s house. After the party Ella gave everybody a big bag of peanuts to take home. Even though she had a broken leg it was still a fantastic day!
